There is a joke about this guy who enters a book store, asks for an Israeli cook book, and is told that the science fiction section is on the second floor.
This is not far away from the truth, considering that the most "Israeli" food is Hummus and Falafel, which are considered Generally Middle Eastern and not "proper" Israeli.

Israeli food and Jewish kitchen are two different things.

Israeli food is basically just Bisli and Bamba. and Shakshuka :)
